Get Started: $500 to Fuel Your Business Idea

The Startup State Initiative, in partnership with the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, has launched the Get Started: Business Idea Challenge to empower Utah’s aspiring entrepreneurs.  This program provides up to $500 in non-equity funding to help founders develop their business ideas, from purchasing equipment to creating a tech prototype.

Beyond funding, the program guides and motivates participants to reach specific, short-term milestones within 30 to 90 days.  Utah residents 18 and older can apply by the first Wednesday of each month.  While individuals can apply multiple times a year, only one application per email address is accepted monthly.

Up to 15 applicants will be selected and provided with a pitch deck template for their final presentation.  These live pitch events offer a supportive environment where participants can share their ideas with peers, entrepreneurs, and community members, focusing on encouragement rather than traditional competition.

For details on eligibility, application procedures, and upcoming events, visit the Get Started webpage.
