Layton City Selected as Healthy Utah Community

Layton City was recently designated as a Healthy Utah Community, presented by Get Healthy Utah and the Utah League of Cities and Towns. This is a significant achievement for the community. To qualify for the Healthy Utah Community designation, Layton implemented and is planning a number of strategies within the community to promote health including: having a productive relationship with the local health department, access to community gardens, an active transportation plan incorporating biking and walking trails among other modes of transportation, and more.

The designation was presented to Layton at the Utah League of Cities and Towns Conference on October 5, 2022 and is valid for three years, at which time the City can reapply. This title is a great opportunity to showcase the work the community is doing to support healthy living for all residents.

While Utah is largely one of the healthiest states in the nation, health and well-being are significant concerns for many residents. Where we work, play, and live impacts health in a variety of ways. Layton City is positioned to improve local conditions in a way that helps all residents have the opportunity to reach their full potential and live healthy lives.
