Layton Re-Designated as a Healthy Utah Community

Layton City, Utah, has been officially re-designated a Healthy Utah Community. The city’s application was recently approved by the Get Healthy Utah Board of Directors, and the award was formally presented at the Utah League of Cities and Towns 2025 Annual Convention awards ceremony in Salt Lake City on October 2, 2025.

Recognition and Community Efforts

As a re-designated community, Layton was featured in the awards video and received a new Healthy Utah Community crystal award and certificate. This prestigious re-designation is valid for three years.

Layton earned this recognition by showcasing great strides in key areas to improve resident well-being:

  • Active Transportation: The city continues to expand pedestrian and bike paths, with a focus on increasing access in low-to-moderate-income neighborhoods. A walkability audit was also conducted to ensure major city routes are safe and accessible.
  • Healthy Foods and Safety: Layton promotes better nutrition by supporting a community garden and enhancing public safety by providing medication disposal services.

Strengthening Commitment to Wellness

To achieve the 2025 re-designation, Layton strengthened its commitment in three critical areas:

  • Employee Wellness: The city enhanced opportunities for physical activity and holistic well-being for employees and their families through its “Wellable” Wellness Program.
  • Food Security: Layton improved access to emergency food by supporting the Open Doors Food Bank, helping local families meet critical nutrition needs.
  • Mental Health Support: The city introduced CredibleMind, a confidential mental health resource program that provides employees with tools to manage stress, sleep, relationships, and overall mental wellness.

Layton City continues to make well-being a priority for its residents and employees.
