Utah Residents Ranked No. 17 for Hard-Working People

WalletHub, a personal finance website, recently released a study that says Utah ranks as the 17th highest state for hard-working people. WalletHub reports a substantial portion of that labor is volunteer work. This type of work helped Utah rank number one in the nation for volunteer hours worked. According to the researchers at WalletHub, the volunteer rate in Utah is currently 65%. This is an impressive stat when compared to the volunteer rate in most other states — 30%.

Another interesting finding from the study shows Utahns are sixth highest for residents working multiple jobs. This helps rank Utah as the fourth highest in the nation in employment. According to the World Economic Forum, Americans put in an average of nearly 1,780 hours per year as of 2019.

That figure is about 390 hours per year more than German workers. However, the US puts in about 360 fewer hours than Mexicans workers do. Unfortunately, fewer Americans had the chance to work this year due to unemployment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Americans also prefer to work, even when there are increased benefits for the unemployed, according to a recent Yale study.
