Water Conservation Grant Available

Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox recently issued an executive order restricting water use and said, “All indicators show this could be the worst drought year on record.” Cox said Utah state government is cutting back on water use at all state facilities. He urged that all residents, from private businesses to local governments to individuals, need to conserve water now more than ever.

Drought conditions are currently at their worst on record in the state. Reservoirs are 15% lower than last year; water levels in most rivers are 50% lower than 2020. With these challenges in mind, Layton City is encouraging the efficient use of water by offering a water conservation grant to low and moderate income households. The grant covers the costs for water-saving faucets and shower heads.

Grants do not require payback. To apply, contact Shelly Pace, Special Programs Administrator, Davis Community Housing Authority, (801) 939-9198, shelly@daviscommunityhousing.com.
