Western Sports Park Set to Revolutionize Utah’s Sports Scene

Western Sports Park (WSP), previously the Legacy Events Center and Davis County Fair Grounds, has transformed from a 2002 Olympic equestrian venue into a $70M sports tourism destination in Davis County, Utah. The park’s grand opening celebration took place on September 17, 2025, marking a new era for the region.

More than just a sports facility, WSP is poised to elevate Davis County by hosting national events against the stunning backdrop of the Wasatch Mountain range. Designed as a hub for youth sports, community wellness, and economic development, its central location along the Wasatch Front makes it a prime venue for regional and national tournaments, especially with the 2034 Winter Olympics on the horizon.

The grand opening on September 17, 2025, featured tours, athlete meet-and-greets, and community activities. Spanning 55 acres, WSP offers six full-sized fields, including a championship field with 2,000-seat bleachers, suitable for soccer, lacrosse, rugby, and ultimate Frisbee. The park includes a multipurpose indoor facility with basketball and volleyball courts, two fixed-seating arenas, sports medicine and team rooms, wellness and sensory rooms, a renovated 60,000 sq. ft. facility, and a new 120,000 sq. ft. arena. With 17 acres of playing fields, a new drop-off and plaza area, over 2,000 parking spaces, and a concessions market, WSP is well-equipped for athletes and visitors. Its proximity to hotels, restaurants, and shopping within easy walking distance enhances its appeal.

Davis County, dubbed “Utah’s Amusement Capital,” complements WSP with attractions like Antelope Island State Park, the Great Salt Lake, six amusement centers including Lagoon, nine golf courses, over 400 restaurants, and more than 500 miles of outdoor trails, ensuring an energetic experience.
