Wildcat MicroFund Grant Available for Startups in Layton City

Did you know Weber State University offers free grants for entrepreneurs in our community? The Wildcat MicroFund helps cultivate business ideas, launch new businesses and creates an effective partnership with entrepreneurial/innovative communities such as Layton City.

The grant supports the creation of successful businesses in Northern Utah by providing the next generation of entrepreneurs with financial support, mentorships, networking, and a real-world platform to test their ideas. New business leaders may apply by merely filling out an application, available in English and Spanish.

Applications are reviewed and accepted weekly. Wildcat MicroFund grant recipients are awarded up to $2,000 in cash and services.  If a business accomplishes initials goals, applicants may be eligible for additional funding. These grants do not need to be paid back. They are Weber State’s investment in you.

To qualify, you must:

  • Reside in Weber, Davis, Box Elder, or Morgan County
  • Have been in business for less than one year
  • Not have more than $3,000 sales for three successive months
  • Not have received more than $25,000 in external funding
  • Receive an assessment score of more than 60 on initial application review
