DOD Business Resources on Layton City Economic Development Site

Layton City’s Community & Economic Development department is pleased to announce the recent addition of the Economic & Other Business Resources section of its Economic Development web page.  This is a helpful resource if you are an entrepreneur, or if your small business is interested in securing a contract with the Department of Defense (DOD), military, or a Prime Defense Contractor, or if you are a veteran looking for business resources.

This segment features several helpful resources, including AFWERX from the Department of the Air Force. AFWERX teams internationally across academia, industry and government to develop technology, expand talent and transition dual-use capabilities. This page also provides links to the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program created to fund research and development for the Department of Defense, and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program established in 1992 to fund cooperative R&D projects with small businesses and non-profit U.S. research institutions.

The Utah Aerospace & Defense Association (UADA) is also prominently featured. UADA convenes, promotes, and advocates for companies competing in the aerospace and defense industry. They are striving to build the world’s premier ecosystem for aerospace and defense companies in Utah.

LSI helps government, commercial, private, public, and nonprofit clients solve complex challenges. Since their founding in 1972, LSI has been a trusted resource to Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies, and state and municipal entities.

DOD contracts offer a number of benefits to both the contractors and the U.S. government. Contracts with the DOD for all types of products and services are possible and can provide significant revenue potential. Contracts are often awarded for multiple years, which can provide businesses with a steady stream of revenue.

The DOD is constantly innovating, and businesses that work with it have access to the latest and greatest technologies. Contractors play a vital role in protecting the United States and its allies. By working with the DOD, your business can make a real difference in the world.
