Layton Showcases East Gate-West Layton Business Parks at NAIOPOLY

NAIOPOLY, a new and highly creative business trade show in Utah, is becoming one of the must-see networking events in the state. Just three years ago, NAIOP Utah (National Association for Industrial and Office Parks) created NAIOPOLY, a trade show branded with the popular Monopoly economics-themed board game. The association recently successfully completed its annual NAIOPOLY event held at the newly constructed office and industrial complex at 12094 South Life Science Court in Draper, Utah. The trade show was decorated with an interactive Monopoly board floorplan and game-themed designs throughout the building.

Josh Caldwell, Business Development Executive with Mortenson Construction and NAIOPOLY organizer, reported 569 individuals registered for the trade show with 480 attending the event. NAIOP Utah provides networking and educational opportunities helpful to members and their businesses. Committed to enhancing the economic growth of Utah, the organization encourages members to do business with other members where possible, and to work to improve the professionalism and image of the industry.

Layton City’s Community and Economic Development department sponsored and participated in the event, sharing information and updates at its booth about the East Gate Business Park and new West Layton Business Park. The west half of the business park is adjacent to the East Gate entrance to Hill Air Force Base, Utah’s largest employer.  This area of Layton’s East Gate Business and Research Park is an exciting, innovative Economic Development Area focused on research and development supporting Hill AFB and its mission with an impressive lineup of aerospace-centered businesses including Janicki Industries, KIHOMAC, RANTEC, and WesTest Engineering. The business park has additional space on the eastern half that will incorporate manufacturing and general business and research.  The East Gate area boasts incredible views of the Wasatch Mountain range and Hill Air Force Base runway. With 150 acres of vacant property, the East Gate Business Park is primed to accept new industrial development.

The City’s new 150-acre West Layton Business Park is set to debut adjacent the new West Davis Corridor, currently under construction.  The business park is located along the eastern edge of the Great Salt Lake at the interchange of a recently constructed 2700 West and West Davis Corridor. West Davis Corridor is an extension of Legacy Parkway, providing additional highway capacity from Ogden to Salt Lake City and Interstate 80.  The business center will include buildings that front a walkable and bike-able network of streets and City trails. Open spaces will provide amenity courtyards and plaza-type spaces rather than a sprawling development pattern with excessive open space. Layton hopes to see constructed one of Utah’s first office rooftop vertiports at this location, boasting one of the only direct and unobstructed approaches to the Salt Lake International Airport from a population center. The West Layton Business Center is expected to fulfill the healthy and growing market demand for office and research space in Davis County, while providing new career opportunities for its local talent and experienced workforce.
