Small Business Leaders Get Valuable Capital and Cash Flow Advice

Capital and Cash Flow training for Small Businesses

Layton City’s Community and Economic Development department recently completed the latest installment of its Small Business Seminar entitled, “Capital and Cash Flow for Small Businesses.” Held on November 21, 2022 at the Layton City Center offices, the class shared helpful tips and ideas with local business owners and leaders about effectively managing cash flow and preparations for expected dry months.

The topic was selected from a recent survey of Layton City businesses. Studies indicate one of the top reasons most small businesses fail is because they do not have enough cash on hand. The class featured a panel discussion on how to effectively manage money coming into and leaving a business.

Financing professionals from First Community Bank answered a wide spectrum of questions from attendees including: How to best create a startup budget, needing advice on creating a proper cash flow budget, delayed payments challenges, seeking advice on reducing overhead costs, how to solve overspending while knowing you need to spend money to make money, and how to overcome cash flow problems due to slow sales.

The popular and educational small business seminars were started by Layton City about six years ago and offer local businesses rare networking opportunities with others in the community. Layton City’s Abbington Senior Living sponsored the event and provided a delicious free lunch from Zao Asian Cafe for all attendees. Past Layton City Small Business Seminars have provided training on a wide array topics by local business owners and experts including: marketing, employee recruitment and retention, customer service, business accounting, and more.
